Position: Estimator - Architectural Millwork

Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive and competitive pricing that creates opportunities to win business. The individual in this position will utilize current and historical data to assist in determining overall project costs. This position is also responsible for preparing client job proposals based on gathered cost data and mark-up guidelines.

Essential Duties Include:

  1. Identify and document cost data (material and labor) associated with submitted estimating requests
  2. Utilize established estimating worksheet to input cost data and assumptions
  3. Provide mark-up recommendations based on current trends and/or historical data
  4. Analyze construction plans and elevations to determine actual estimating requirements
  5. Utilize supply chain to obtain competitive material and/or outsourced labor costs
  6. Consult with clients regarding overall project scope (when needed)
  7. Work with internal project teams and client when cost reduction initiatives are required
  8. Interact with design, engineering and manufacturing (when needed) for clarification regarding design intent and/or construction methodology
  9. Create and manage electronic data base to effectively archive completed estimates
  10. Provided project team members with estimate detail when jobs are booked/launched
  11. Track and manage estimating activity schedule to ensure requested deliverables are met
  12. Other duties as assigned


Minimum Candidate Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus 3-5 years of experience.
Estimating experience with wood and/or metal manufacturing in the architectural millwork industry.

 

Office and Production Area setting: This position will spend time between both the office and production settings.

Normal Office setting: This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other normal office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes, hazardous chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

Production Area setting: This position is required to work in clean, quick paced, and high efficiency manufacturing environment facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee maybe required to work near moving mechanical parts at machine pace completing a variety of tasks as needed requiring extended periods of standing and lifting loads no greater than 50 pounds.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When and where necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PEP) is provided.

 

Position is required to establish standard/rate as set for the particular process being performed.
