Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Cutting Position

This position is primarily, yet not exclusively responsible and accountable for the following:
  • Having operational knowledge of all equipment in the area of responsibility to include drill press, jointer, edge finisher, panel saw, table saw, chop/ miter saw, heat bender, guillotine cutter, hand router.
  • Completing pre and post cuts on material within tolerance level
  • Reading job tickets thoroughly and interpreting before starting the job task, and understand the job task
  • Cutting each piece of material within QC requirements
  • Inspecting each piece for Quality Control
  • Performing and completing all tasks assigned in a timely manner
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working area at all times
  • Storing all materials in a manner that promotes cleanliness
  • Using supplies in a cost effective manner
  • Adhering to all productivity, SOP’s, safety, 6S and PPE requirements
  • Ability to read and completely understand cad file drawing and/or the basic shop drawing
  • Maintaining the template rack along with keeping the tool rack organized.
  • Ability to change out all tooling and keep machinery in cutting tolerances
  • Performing and completing all other work duties assigned to include assisting in other departments as needed

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. 
 
Basic computer knowledge.

Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

Have a working knowledge of computer functions for equipment set up and job costing.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions from both written and oral communications.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear and climb up and down a ladder. The employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes, hazardous chemicals, and heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Exposure to extreme heat and cold temperatures can occur daily.
